New Delhi: It is fast becoming yet another 'blind muder' case for the Delhi Police. Almost a week after TV journalist Soumya Vishwanathan was found dead with a bullet in her head, the Delhi police have very few leads.

They found one bullet, which was fired from a country made pistol, and three eyewitnesses - people who either heard a loud bang or saw the car hit the divider. But the police is convinced that there has to be someone who saw more that night, considering Nelson Mandela Road is a busy stretch at all hours.

DCP South, HGS Dhaliwal says, "Kayi aise honge jo samne aana nahi chahte. Hum sabse appeal karna chahte he ki samne aiye agar aap kuch jante hain." ("There may be a lot of people who don't want to get involved. We appeal to you to come forward and help us if you know something.")

Officials say that a lot also depends on forensic reports. For instance:

  • Where was the shot fired from?
  • Was there another person inside the car?
  • Was there any sort of scuffle? The medical reports rule out any external injury.
  • Where did this blue paint come from?
  • How did the tyre get punctured?

HGS Dhaliwal says, "We are collaborating with the Forensic Department. Somethings are strongly dependant on that."

The police, meanwhile, is carrying out dummy runs at the spot and checking all vehicles plying on Nelson Mandela Road between 0300 hrs ITS and 0400 hrs IST.

A week later, police officials are still putting together clues and whatever little evidence they have at their disposal.

They say they have narrowed down on two to three elements, but until and unless a strong eyewitness doesn't come forward and the complete forensic report doesn't come out, it's going to be very difficult to crack the case.
